Unfortunately, Filipinos put more emphasis on the tone and the perceived rudeness of the message more than on the actual content. And they can’t even put up proper counterarguments without resorting to Ah, basta! Why such stubbornness or incorrigible self-righteousness persists, despite the disastrous outcome and results found in Filipino society, is something that has been baffling for many, many years. Filipinos harbor a skewed concept of freedom Filipinos think the “freedom” they supposedly earned in 1986 allows them to do whatever they want, regardless of the consequences.
Our theme for today’s reading is: He Speak with Authority Why does our theme says that The Lord speak with authority?
Why was it that during His time He attracted multitude of people?
And since He is also God, the second person in The Blessed Trinity, somehow the people who listen to Him can sense this in His presence. During the time that The Lord was with us here on Earth, He drove evil spirits, cured the sick, fed thousands of people and raised the dead to life. The Lord Jesus must have also been a good speaker and communicator to command such a following. For us now in our present time The Lord continue to speak with authority, but it is not so much anymore the miracles that convinced people of His authority, although miracles continue to happen. They find life in Christ: Many people in the initial stage of their life does not find the need to ask for help. Along the way they begin to feel the burden of life.
He also commanded us to love one another and to exercise values. They become weary and discourage, and cannot find the way to a wholesome existence.
Filipinos are lazy and unimaginative There are many talented Filipinos. The following question remains without a convincing answer until now: Proud to be Filipino? Obviously, Filipinos have been putting the cart before the horse; they feel pride for some inexplicable thing, then they go find something to feel proud of, however small and inappropriate.
